Miami

I had a relatively late flight to Miami, not departing Cleveland until 5pm and with a very quick turnaround at Chicago for the onward flight to Miami. Since I was not due to arrive in Miami until almost 10.30pm, I had dinner at the airport in Cleveland. Fortunately, the plane left early and arrived early so I had plenty of time to make it to the other concourse for the connection. The flight down to Miami was also on time and arrived safely. My bag had already come out when I got to the baggage reclaim and I didn't have to wait long for my Supershuttle that I'd booked to take me to the hotel. It's a lot warmer than it was in Cleveland and Toronto, but everything is air-conditioned so as long as you stay in a vehicle or a building, it's OK.
I arrived at my hotel just after 11pm and I was told my room had been upgraded to an ocean view, but it's dark so I couldn't tell how much of a view - it turns out, it's not very much ocean in view, but you can see it just about. It's easiest to see it on the left, where the motorboats are stored on a scaffolding, but you also see a very thin strip on the right at about the top of the trees, level with the third balcony down on the building on the right! I've booked a beach-front hotel in St Pete's Beach for my stay in Tampa, which hopefully should have a balcony with a real sea view.
