St Pete Beach
All three games of the series were night games, so I had the day free to go and walk around St Pete Beach. I took the trolley down to the southern end of the beach and had lunch at the Hurricane restaurant and then walked back some of the way before getting the trolley back to the hotel, as it was quite hot. The beaches are covered with small shells. The pavements are covered with small shells, as well, some of them in quite large piles.
As you can see in the final picture, I was able to paddle in the edges of the Gulf of Mexico - the water was warm, but part of my welcome back in the hotel had warned against paddling any further in, as it is the mating season for rays and they are lying in the shallow water.
If you look very carefully in the bottom picture, particularly towards the bottom left, you can see some fish swimming in the water, right up near the water's edge, sometimes getting washed up onto the beach with the largest waves!
