Philadelphia Phillies @ Washington Nationals (1)

This was my first game in Washington, but the middle game of a 3-game set between the Philadelphia Phillies and the Washington Nationals. My seat for this game is almost directly in line with the plate, the pitcher and batter and home plate umpire, just a couple of seats off to the 1st base side, so the view isn't obscured by the extra thick bit of the safety netting.
Apparently, this was also a "bring your dog to the ballgame" night, so there were quite a few around in the stands in the lower deck - fortunately, I don't think they were permitted in the club level. During the game, we were asked to vote for the Fan of the Game, and had a choice of three dogs - the middle one won, but I don't know what prize they got for that.
The Nationals had a long winning streak on the go, and Denard Span had a 24-game personal hitting streak too, which he managed to extend straight away in the 1st to 25, but apart from the bright start, the Phillies managed to pile on quite a few runs, and although the Nationals managed to send the tying run to the plate multiple times in the final couple of innings, even getting him to scoring position in one instance, they weren't able to catch Philadelphia and their winning streak came to an end. The Braves are going to win the NL East, so the Nationals are only playing for one of the Wild Card spots in the NL, and each loss makes it that much more unlikely that they're going to make it to the play-offs.
